![]() ![]() (Don't know if that is the right way to express the ship positions but thought i'd take a stab at it.) Simple keyboard command, just like priority aa, to "lock rear turret on target". You could fight the BB ahead at 30 degrees starboard and the cruiser at 205 degrees port, simultaneously! That would be a great skill element to add. With turret rotation times being what they are on BB's I would use the heck out of this command given the option.įor sure. It would be a simple matter to key map it to whatever key you would like, or to leave it unassigned and thus keep your command options simpler.Ĭouldn't be any harder than left-clicking aircraft back in the RTS days was & people did fine with that. It's an idea that's been brought up before. On a real warship, there will be a target called out, the target's bearing will be called out, and the turrets will each rotate the correct direction without turning the wrong way first. If you swap sides a lot, the aft turrets can end up wagging like a dogs tail, never getting pointed at the target. ![]() One major different in turret behavior in game, if you are aiming at a target off the port beam, and swing your mouse over the bow and to a target to starboard, the front turrets swing as expected, and the aft turrets will start rotating to point as far forward to port as they can get, and when your mouse passes centerline, the after turrets will reverse direction and start the long trek to point off the starboard side. Was that a feature of the actual ships? (asked the monkey) I wonder if it has ever been developed tested and rejected.Īctual ships can rotate their turrets independently. Though they usually would use the same fire control inputs and behave in a manner similar to what you see in game. ![]()
